Matty McDonnell is the Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Vascular Access Surveillance Team, Infection Management Services at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He has a Master of Advanced Practice Nursing with a focus on Critical Care and post graduate qualifications in clinical redesign. In his current position he provides clinical expertise, consultancy and multidisciplinary staff education relevant to vascular access devices and infection control surveillance. He coordinates hospital wide vascular access device auditing and is responsible for the development, implementation, translation and evaluation of clinical practice standard guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols related to vascular access at the PAH. With over a 10 years’ experience in Intensive Care and formally employed as a National Clinical Educator specialising in Ventilation, Intra-aortic balloon pumping and Vascular Access he is dedicated to positive patient outcomes and lifelong learning.
