In early 2022, I was accepted to deploy as an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) specialist with GOARN to Kiribati to support the COVID-19 response operation. As a first time deployee, I quickly realised the importance of flexibility, adaptability and communication skills needed to deliver response interventions within a resource limited. Working alongside partners, collaborating to improve IPC within healthcare facilities and other sectors proved to be a valuable and life-changing mission.
This session will provide participants with an overview of the realities and rewards of deploying on an international outbreak response with GOARN.
