Six minute intensive training (SMITs) Tool have been used for a range of relevant diabetes-related topics in aged care settings and patient blood management from Australia Commission on Safety and Quality. During Pandemic Period, SMIT Tool A3 posters can provide key information which can be delivered to staff in six minutes and enable key information to be reinforced in a busy environment. It has been identified the knowledge deficits of Registered Nurses for COVID-19 Positive case and close contact management through Infection Prevention COVID-19 Audit and in-service in September 2022 . SMIT for COVID-19 management have been developed by Infection Prevention CNC at Bankstown hospital which were designed as one-page summaries (Six Minute Intensive Training (SMIT) of that included including the key information for Isolation, Cohorting, Door Signage, PPE, Hand Hygiene, Environmental Cleaning , Waste Management, handing of Linen and Transfer/ Movement. A collaborative partnership was formed between 3 Geriatric Wards at Bankstown and Infection Prevention and Management (IP&M), which led to use of SMIT Tool at handover, team meetings, or as part of initiation for new staff and as a quick refresher. Posters of each SMIT were also produced for facilities to place in clinical areas and meeting rooms. A survey conducted after 2 month and survey results revealed that the knowledge of management COVID-19 has been increased and this program rolled out the whole hospital. More SMITs were developed such as : gastro Outbreak management and Influenza management

Biography

In my 34 years of nursing I have circulated in difference areas including medical, surgical, and orthopaedic and paediatric wards. Through these rotations, I obtained knowledge and advanced nursing skills in a variety of nursing areas which I have been able to provide excellent nursing care in Infection Prevention and Control/ Staff Health Department at Fremantle Hospital & Fiona Stanley Hospital in Western Australia and Balmain Hospital and Bankstown/ Lidcome Hospital in New South Wales
