After 30-years and counting, Tristel remains the global leader in chlorine dioxide disinfection solutions for infection prevention and control. With the Tristel ‘Trio50’ Wipes System available in Australasia for over a decade, Tristel has expanded its product portfolio to offer solutions for new applications. These include products built on the foundations of chlorine dioxide, as well as other infection control solutions. More than wipes, more than one product, more than one department, Tristel’s growth continues both in Australasia and beyond.

At the heart of Tristel’s success is a proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry. Chlorine dioxide is a broad-spectrum biocide with proven activity against bacteria, viruses, yeasts, mycobacteria, and bacterial spores in testing against global norms. Chlorine dioxide has a proven public record as a high-level, sporicidal disinfectant that is effective in contact times as short as 30 seconds.

Tristel provides chlorine dioxide in a number of forms for medical devices separate to wipes. Tristel’s ‘Stella System’ is a semi-automated system designed for high-level disinfection of medical devices with a five-minute cycle time. The ‘Duo’ range provides disinfection for non-critical ultrasound and ophthalmological devices with contact times of 30-seconds and two-minutes, respectively. Tristel’s ‘Rinse Assure’ System has been designed to generate and supply AS 5369 compliant final rinse water to Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWDs) via filtration, reverse osmosis, and trace dosing of chlorine dioxide. Finally, Tristel also offers a range of disinfection solutions for environmental surfaces.

Effective Infection Control cannot be achieved via a single product or practice; it is a combination of elements. This is why Tristel also provides accessory products and services to support product use, including for the user, the data, and the devices. The educational ‘Tristel Online Training Portal’ ensures users can receive in-servicing anywhere and anytime, including certifications for completion of education. ‘Tristel 3T’ provides facilities with the ability to implement digital traceability of disinfection cycles using a system with high levels of security and data privacy. And ‘Tristel Protect’ ensures validated, 72-hour storage of small and medium-sized medical devices using a dedicated, portable system.

Finally, Tristel partners with likeminded businesses pioneering infection control. Within Australasia, Tristel distributes the award-winning daisygrip tourniquet – a reusable tourniquet with a magnetic, self-finding buckle and silicone strap – able to be disinfected quickly and easily, and developed with sustainability and economy in mind.

Ecolab Australia and New Zealand’s Healthcare division began its journey in 2007 with a team of 18 associates, specialising in on-site service support in hospital Central Sterile Departments (CSDs).

Our healthcare team and business grew, with the expansion of services throughout late 2000’s into Infection Control reprocessing chemistry, Hand Hygiene TGA registered Alcohol Surgical Rubs, Environmental Hygiene innovation and further into Infection Control solutions such as Auditing programs and Bulk Chemistry dispensing systems for hospital central sterile departments.

In October 2019 with the acquisition of Gallay Medical & Scientific, Ecolab ANZ Healthcare expanded its business further into CSD and Endoscopy, offering a full suite of equipment, maintenance and support services in addition to innovative chemistry in instrument reprocessing, infection control solutions and Life Science.  The healthcare team grew to 107, enabling the division to expand on its healthcare solutions, offering customers value in bundled equipment programs along with water testing and machine performance qualification through a dedicated and specialised national service team.
