Abstract:

This presentation will discuss evidence-based prevention strategies for catheter-associated urinary-tract infection, a common healthcare-associated infection that occurs in hospital, residential care and community settings. It will provide an update on evidence-based practice recommendations for appropriate utilisation and care of urinary catheters.  It will also discuss strategies that can be implemented at a healthcare organisational level, including surveillance approaches.
