Abstract:
The UN aims to be better prepared to prevent, predict, detect, and respond to global health threats and promote sustainable development. Infection, Prevention and Control sits firmly within the currently being negotiated Pandemic ‘Treaty’, whilst the extent of inclusion of One Health is still under negotiation. The interconnectedness of humans and their environment however, is not a new concept and neither is the adage “Prevention is better than cure”. So what does prevention mean to you? The principles and values associated with One Health thinking are presented with consideration for the IPC workforce and associated industries that are tasked with fulfilling their roles in vastly different contexts whilst meeting current and future global, national and personal expectations.
