Abstract:
Many large providers of private healthcare in Australia created a National Manager Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) role during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The IPC Professionals taking up these roles quickly discovered the complexities providing an IPC service to the healthcare facilities within their group, spreading over State and Territory borders, and for some including different healthcare settings (i.e. acute care, home care, aged care, etc.). These positions also present many opportunities, incl. opportunities to ‘shine the light’ on everything IPC and to standardise the IPC practice across the facilities within their organisations.
In this presentation, we will expand on the complexities and opportunities those in National Manager IPC roles continue to face. We will also share ‘nuggets’ of shared experience on how we individually and collectively continue to deal with the complexities and opportunities these positions present.
