Exploring the Clinical and Scientific Benefits of UV-C Technology for the High-Level Disinfection of Ultrasound Probes

This presentation explores the compelling benefits of UV-C technology as a high-level disinfection (HLD) method for ultrasound probes, focusing on effective exposure, microbial efficacy, and clinical evidence. It provides a comprehensive comparison of current HLD reprocessing methods, including manual techniques—often subject to human variability—and automated systems that ensure consistent, validated outcomes.

The advantages and key differences between UV-C and chemical-based disinfection processes and also explored, highlighting considerations around safety, efficiency, and environmental impact.

Professor Weber presents the science behind UV-C disinfection, explaining how the technology works and why it offers a highly effective, rapid, and reliable solution for ultrasound probe reprocessing.
