Abstract:
Funded by NMHRC and MRFF, IVCare is the world’s first infection prevention trial using an adaptive platform trial design. This design allows answering of multiple research questions, sooner, within the same trial platform, withadaptations over time to add new patient groups and/or interventions to be tested. IVCare targets CLABSI prevention, for which there are numerous existing and new interventions but few multi-site RCTs to inform guidelines and purchasing decisions. All central venous catheter types are included including PICC, tunnelled/non-tunnelled, ports, and dialysis catheters. Consumers and clinicians have prioritised initial intervention domains including securement, caps/connectors, lock solutions, and catheter types. Multiple hospitals in Australia and internationally are buidling the platform with us for initial patient recruitment in cancer (blood and solid) and dialysis patients. Come learn more about options to join us on the IVCare platform or think about how an adaptive platform trial could be developed for other IPC targets.
