Nigel McGothigan is a registered nurse with over 30 years of diverse clinical expertise. With post graduate qualification in Peri-operative Nursing, Nurse Education, Nursing Leadership, Gerontology, Palliative Care and Infection Prevention Control. 20 of those years has been within the aged care sector.

Nigel has practiced in his field of expertise nationally and internationally.

Having been employed in multifaceted educative, supervisory and management positions, Nigel has a deep knowledge and appreciation for the residential aged care and community care sectors.

Nigel has served as a clinical advisor to the Australian Council of Health Care Standards,  Aged Care Peak Bodies and Commonwealth Department of Health.

Currently, Nigel serves the aged care community of St Andrews Village, Hughes, ACT; a 176 bed facility; as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner Candidate and IPC Clinical Lead.

Nigel’s ongoing commitment to evidence-based best practice nursing has seen him being appointed as Aged Care Projects Coordinator liaising with ACT Health in implementation of IPC Aged Care Clinical Leads and Covid-19 Preparedness throughout 30 residential aged care facilities in Canberra and its surrounds.
