Mr Joshua Philp1
1South Eastern Local Health District -NSW Health, Sydney, Australia
Background: To provide a safe and reliable patient-centred vaccination program during a covid-19 pandemic across an entire district of a capitol city.
Method: By keeping Infection prevention and control strategies at the core of our program we were able to implement policies, procedures, training and guidelines that could be easily adapted and altered. This provided vaccination services across multiple settings while maintaining continuous staff and patient safety. Locations ranged from mass-vaccination settings, in-reach and out-reach clinics, and a major shipping port worker program.
Results: We provided a safe and effective vaccination program administering almost 400,000 doses across any demographic, language and site in our district while maintaining staff and patient safety.
Conclusion: Our program has continued to provide safe and reliable services with capacity to adapt to new variants, strains, legislation and PPE requirements uninterrupted. This was done by ensuring Infection prevention and control management strategies are at the core of our program.
