Abstract. A year in review of an IPC lead in Aged Care will outline the programs developed for the aged care services of Anglicare Southern Queensland in 8 residential Aged Care Facilities, reaching 600 residents, 800 staff and 10 IPC leads, and Home and Community Care services to 32,000 clients and 1400 staff.

Commencing in September 2021, existing IPCs and Facility Managers were engaged to take a team-based approach to support and grow existing IPC programs according to the facility and service needs.

Reviewing a year in the pandemic reflects on the programs established, the activities and promotions initiated, the resources created and the promotion of compliance with Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions. These programs and principals were transferred to the community care services and adapted for home-based and respite centre care of the elderly.

An Infection Control Management and Action Plan, resulted in input into policy, procedures, and education. Collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and clients contributed to running Outbreak Management Workshops, Hand Hygiene awareness month, and mandatory training and assessing.

The benefits and challenges of the IPC lead will include personal reflection from IPCs and RACF staff, key learning and key requirements will be explored to conclude this presentation.
