Abstract:
This presentation will cover 2024 outcomes related to Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) in aged care. We will discuss the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s offerings on AMS and how they relate to implementation of AMS requirements in the Quality Standards.
A key focus will be on To Dip or Not to Dip (TDONTD), a quality improvement intervention aimed at improving identification and management of urinary tract infection in residential aged care homes. We will also present TDONTD’s 2 updated and new resources for 2024, including an implementation guide designed to support AMS champions delivering the intervention. This guide was developed based on the experiences of nurse and pharmacist AMS champions who participated in a pilot project delivering TDONTD.
