During heightened periods a step by step plan is imperative to successful implementation of a procedure.
This will assist with management of the virus and the containment and consequently recovery.
The impact isolation can be more significant than the effects of the illness.
Facilitation a robust system will reduce the impact to residents and residents representatives.
The establishment of role cards has proven a significant step in the co ordination and management of key staff to ensure all areas of compliance and infection control measures are met.
The implementation of role cards has proved a significant stand alone element in achieving excellent infection control outcomes.
Bene was recognized by SA Health and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission for this innovation as a stand alone element that contributes to the management of an outbreak in residential Aged Care.
Resident and Staff Tracing cards using in combination with the role cards and outbreak management plan effectively contribute to the identification and containment of possible close contacts and prevent further spread.
These elements will be presented to assist Residential Aged Care facilities in the management of an outbreak and the minimization of extent of spread as well as the impact to residents as a result of isolation.
