Abstract:

In addition to professional cleaning staff, nurses also have cleaning responsibilities. Are you aware of what they clean and how they do it? It's essential to be clear about these tasks to avoid misunderstandings and ensure effective cleaning. This clarity also helps prevent the overuse and misuse of disinfectants, which can lead to antimicrobial resistance. Nurses assigned to cleaning duties should receive professional cleaning training. Without proper training, nurses or medical assistants might clean as they would at home, which is inappropriate for hospitals or aged care homes. This can introduce serious risks. This presentation highlights the importance of basic cleaning knowledge for all healthcare employees with cleaning responsibilities who are not professional cleaners. It will cover what they need to know, how they should clean, and how to train them effectively.
