Kelly Knight- Infection Prevention and Control CNC for SNSWLHD. Worked in a number of IPaC roles across private and public facilities.
Beth Cullen- Infection Prevention Specialist. Long history of working in IPaC, has previously had a TB CNC role at another LHD.
Abstract:
Safer Spill Management
The management of blood and body fluid spills are an important patient and staff management activity in our facilities. In order to provide the best possible management plan for any spill we looked a some key points.
Assessment and Planning
• We evaluated the existing process for managing a blood or body fluid spill
• Identified those high risk areas
• Engaged stakeholders – clinical staff, clinical products team, management, WHS.

Conclusion
• As a comprehensive solution for the management of blood and body fluid spills in our facilities across SNSWLHD we have improved staff safety, efficiency, and compliance while being cost-effective and environmentally safer
