Dr. Marcin Sowa

Marcin Sowa received a PhD in health economics in 2014 and subsequently held academic positions with the Australian National University, Griffith University and the University of Queensland. He is currently a lead health economist in KPMG Australia. Dr Sowa has led academic and commissioned research projects in the areas of health policy, health services research and economic evaluation, including on the subject of hospital performance, economic impact of chronic disease, models of health and social care, sugar tax policy and private health insurance. He has been a lecturer and coordinator of post-graduate courses ‘Economic Evaluation and Health’ and ‘Health Economics and Policy’ in the UQ School of Economics, and a supervisor of honours, master’s and doctoral students. Dr Sowa is an appointed member of the Medical Services Advisory Committee – Evaluation Sub-committee (MSAC-ESC) advising the Australian Government on the issues of health technology assessment.
