Dr Janette Young is a researcher at the University of South Australia. Dr Young’s research has focused on human-animal relations for over ten years with an emphasis on the intersection and balancing of both human and animal needs, experiences, and rights. This has included focus on the relationships of people over 60 with their pets, and the development of the SAFE (Safe Animal Friendly Environments) tool. She has 3 books, numerous chapters, journal articles, conference presentations and is author or informant for a range of popular media articles. She is also National Director (Health Promotion) for Animal Therapies Ltd.
