I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in the field of Infection Prevention and Control for many years. I am the Manager of the Infection Prevention Policy Surveillance Unit (IPPSU), within the Communicable Disease Control Directorate of WA Health. This is the lead IPC agency in WA. A key responsibility is the collation, validation and reporting of healthcare associated infection data submitted to the Healthcare Infection Surveillance WA (HISWA) program. In addition IPPSU is responsible for collation and reporting of all MRO data. The development of state-wide IPC policy is also a key component of the unit.
