Renee Christensen leads the Capacity Building and Training portfolio for the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) based at WHO in Geneva. She is responsible for the strategic design, development and implementation of the multi-faceted and layered GOARN Capacity Building and Training Programme, leading a collaboration with over 40 of the world’s leading public health and emergency response institutions to collectively enhance the global outbreak response capacity. Renee has over 15 years’ experience with the United Nations across Africa, Asia, and Europe in building capacity for post-conflict, humanitarian and infectious disease emergency response. Renee holds a Master of Education, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, a Graduate Diploma in Experimental Particle Physics and a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of Melbourne (Australia), and is a published author in the arenas of global education and building capacity for emergency response.
