Dr Simic is a veterinarian, a musician, an educator and is currently studying a Master in Music Therapy. She practiced as a Veterinarian for 12 years in small animal practice. She was blessed to find a role she was very passionate about as an educator at the RSPCA Education Department working in human-animal interactions and animal welfare education. Highlights were developing and delivering an animal welfare education program for refugee and asylum seeker children and also traveling to Samoa numerous times to capacity build with the educator at the Animal Protection Society. After moving to North East Victoria she obtained a large grant for the local residential aged care facility and developed a model of care where human-animal interactions would serve as a source of wellbeing while maintaining a strong focus on animal welfare and ethics. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and advocating for animal inclusive aged care at this conference.
